Thirsty!

Series: Thirsty!
What if we were genuinely thirsty for revival? Have you ever searched the Bible for the word Revival? Is revival something God desires? The answer is no…at least not in the strictest sense of the word. God would rather you stay vived…than needing to be re-vived! However, God does call His people back to himself…and when He does…what does He call them back to? What is revival? Have you ever experienced it? Could you define it? Would you know it according to God’s word? I hear people who say that they are pressing in after God’s heart as an expression of revival. People call for fire, for anointing, for signs and wonders…here is the good news…God does that stuff…praise God! here is the bad news…that is not the heart of God. God’s heart is and has always been about people.

Intimidation is about making you afraid. It is not fear…it leads to fear. Here are just a few definitions of intimidation: to make timid or to fill with fear, to frighten; to compel by threats, to frighten into submission. A few synonyms are: bulldoze, bully, or browbeat. To intimidate implies causing fear or a sense of inferiority into another...to break the spirit of a person, to cause to someone lose courage… Intimidation uses threats, insults, or aggressive behavior, or to treat someone with contempt.
Defeating Giants!

I want to remind you that Saul was appointed by God…called by God to serve the people of God. It was a high honor! God appointed a man that the people would follow…and get this a man who could succeed! It would not bring God any joy in seeing Saul fail! God did not pick a loser! We must have a firm grip on this truth! God may have known that Saul would fail, but he did not appoint him to be King of Israel because he would fail! Yet, king Saul did fail. Why? Because of the Giant of Judgment. What is the giant of judgment? The giant of judgment are the judgments that you carry with you…that have made impressions on your life…that shape the way you see yourself!

I believe that most of us understand the concept of having giants in our lives. Giants are those things that are large in our eyes. From time to time we encounter giants. Maybe it is the giant of disease, of finances…or the lack thereof, maybe it is the giant of family problems, or relationship problems…whether it is the in the work place, in the marriage, in school or elsewhere…or maybe the giant of insecurity, or the giant of insignificance (do I really matter…am I important?) giant of low self-esteem, . Maybe you are facing a different kind of GIANT. It takes courage to face these giants…in fact as followers of Christ we are to do more than face the giants…we are to defeat them! We are over-comers…we are more than conquerors

Why? Three little letters…one big word! I have learned something about the why question. It is this…we don’t ask many “why questions” about things we like! We tend to ask more questions about things we don’t like or understand. Here is something else that is fascinating…thing that we enjoy and don’t understand…we ask very few WHY QUESTIONS! Why is that? This morning…I am excited to answer the questions…WHY Multiply?

Why? Three little letters…one big word! I have learned something about the why question. I have learned that the older you get the less you ask the question “why?” Why is that? ? I think it is because the older you get the more experiences you have had, the more you understand, so the question is not as important to us. However, I also think it is because we make basic assumptions that because we know the answer(s) then everyone knows the answers. It is like the old adage of judging others by your “self.” Have you ever heard that saying? It simply means that the way you understand/judge yourself is the way you understand/judge others.
